Man (85) dies in south Dublin house fire

Incident not being treated as suspicious by the Garda

An 85-year-old man has died following a house fire in Dublin.

A spokesman for Dublin Fire Brigade said the alarm was raised at approximately 7.35pm before it attended a domestic fire at Monaloe Crescent in Cabinteely.

A team of 18 fire-fighters were dispatched with three engines, an emergency tender, an ambulance, and a senior officer.

The spokesman said the fire was brought under control “relatively quickly” and dealt with by crew with breathing apparatus.

The body of a man was discovered in one of the bedrooms by emergency respondents.

It is understood another man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

There were no other occupants in the house at the time.

Gardai confirmed they are examining the scene but it is understood the matter is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
