Industrial action at Dublin Bus ‘within next two weeks’

Staff seeking wages increase comparable to that agreed with Luas drivers

Union leaders anticipate that "some form of action" will place in Dublin Bus within the next two weeks.

Siptu divisional organiser Owen Reidy saod 95 per cent of drivers had voted in favour of industrial action, the exact details of which will be decided on Monday when union organisers meet to discuss the dispute.

Dublin Bus staff are seeking an increase comparable to that agreed with Luas drivers earlier this summer.

“Our members voted for industrial action. That was very clear. It could be 24 hour or 48 hour stoppages or all out,” Mr Reidy told Newstalk Breakfast.

“We anticipate some form of action in the next two weeks. We would much prefer to reach an agreement through negotiations.”

Mr Reidy said there was now an opportunity for Dublin Bus to hold talks.
