Gardaí seek witnesses to Co Louth roadside abduction

Male presented himself at Ardee Garda station claiming to have been forced into car

Gardaí are investigating an abduction incident in Co Louth on Tuesday in which a man was bundled into a car by three people.

A number of phone calls were received by gardaí that a man was forcibly taken into a Toyota Avensis car at about 5.30pm on Tuesday on the N33 Ardee Link Road which leads to the M1 Dublin to Belfast motorway.

Gardaí said his silver Mercedes car was travelling towards the M1 when it was struck from behind by the grey Toyota .

Three males then forcefully removed the driver of the Mercedes into their vehicle, which then drove towards the M1.

The man presented himself at Ardee Garda station at about 8.30pm claiming to have been abducted.

“The injured party in this case was released a short time later and did not require any medical attention,” a Garda spokesman said.
