Gardaí seek Kerry children who took train to Dublin

Kilkenny gardaí take body, believed to be missing man Shane Drennan, from the Nore

Gardaí are appealing for help in tracing 12-year-old Katie Mangan and 15-year-old Donnacha Ireland, who travelled to Dublin from Killarney at the weekend.

They were seen in Killarney on Sunday boarding the 5.55pm train to Dublin via Mallow. They arrived in Heuston Station at 8.45pm and are believed to be staying in the Dublin city area.

Katie is 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, and has black hair which may be dyed blonde. She may be wearing a purple hooded top, blue tracksuit bottoms, white boots and carrying a black backpack with white dots on the shoulder straps.

Donnacha is 5ft 3ins tall with black hair, of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top with the number 72 in large print on the front, dark tracksuit bottoms and white runners, and also carrying a black gear bag.

In Co Kilkenny gardaí searching for missing man Shane Drennan called off their search after a body, believed to be that of the 31-year-old, was taken from the river Nore.

In Co Tipperary the search continues for David Wakefield who was last seen leaving the family home at Mill Farm, Lorrha, in his red Peugeot 407, registration number 02 D 741, on Saturday morning. There have been no sightings of either the car or Mr Wakefield since.

He is about 5ft 6in tall with brown hair, a beard and blue eyes. When last seen he was wearing a blue jumper, blue jeans, a blue fleece coat, combat boots and blue hat.

Gardaí and Mr Wakefield’s family are concerned for his safety. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nenagh Garda station on 067-50450, the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardaí in Cavan have appealed for help in tracing 43-year-old Elaine McCann who is missing from Stradone, Co Cavan. She was last seen about 7pm on Friday. She is described as being 5ft 8in in height, 11 stone in weight with short dark hair. She was last seen wearing dark coloured clothing and a dark coloured Liverpool FC jacket. Anyone who has seen Ms McCann or who can assist in locating her is asked to contact Cavan Garda station on 049-436 8800.
