Gardaí seek help in tracing missing Australian tourist (85)

Gardaí in Co Westmeath have issued an appeal for help in tracing a missing 85-year-old Australian tourist.

William Tyquin has been missing since Tuesday, July 8th.

He arrived in Ireland on Friday, July 4th and hired a black Hyundai ix20 - registration number 12 D 22135 - with the intention of travelling around Ireland.

He was last seen on July 8th in Athlone.

William is described as being 168cm (5ft 6in), with grey hair. When last seen, he was wearing cream coloured trousers, a grey T-shirt and sandals.

A Garda spokesman said Mr Tyquin’s family is very concerned for his safety.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have seen him to contact them at Athlone Garda station at 090 6498550, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
