Dublin motor tax offices close for a week

Dublin City Council is to close its three motor taxation offices for a week to deal with a backlog of applications arising from recently introduced changes to motor taxation and licensing laws.

The offices, located at Smithfield, Ballymun and Clondalkin, will close to the public from Monday the 11th of November to Friday the15th of November, inclusive.

The council said it wished to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures which it said were caused by a “significant backlog” in applications.

New rules governing motor tax arrangements came into effect on September 30th and resulted in an increase in non-use declarations and applications for the payment of motor tax and driving licences.

Further changes introduced last Tuesday mean applications for learner permits, driving licences and driver licence renewals can no longer be made through the motor tax offices.
