Festivals catering for kids and adults taking place across State as back-to-school time looms

A look at what’s on around the country this weekend:

Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival

The 4th annual film festival returns to Waterville in Co Kerry with live comedy, music, street theatre, workshops, discussion panels and the very best of film comedy. Those in attendance will attempt to break the Guinness world record for the largest number of Chaplin look-a-likes in one place, so bring your moustaches and bowlers. The festival runs until Sunday. This annual cycling tour of Co Waterford offers four different routes of varying degrees of difficulty - from a 12km family cycle to the 160km Kelly Comeragh Challenge, which organisers say "is not for the faint hearted". The cycling event is expected to attract 6,000 participants tomorrow and Sunday, but some of the events are already sold out. More information at www.theseankellytour.com National Heritage Week

This annual series of events overseen by the Heritage Council kicks off tomorrow. More than 1,700 events will take place over the course of the week, many of them free. National Gallery of Ireland

As part of Heritage Week, the National Gallery of Ireland will present a daily programme of talks, family workshops, drawing workshops, guided tours and art documentaries. Tallafest

This free fair organised by Tallaght Community Council runs from noon to 6pm tomorrow. The schedule includes drama workshops, a photo exhibition, drumming circles, a meet and greet with local authors, a movie library, sheep shearing, a sheepdog demo and a variety of events for kids. Doolin Craft Beer Festival

More than 20 of Ireland's most renowned craft brewers and some of Co Clare's best musicians will gather in Doolin for the third annual beer fest. There will be artisan food and live music daily until Sunday. Entry €10. More at www.irishcraftbeerfestival.ie Dunmore East Bluegrass Festival

The annual festival in the Co Waterford seaside village promises free bluegrass concerts all weekend by acts like the Boxcar Preachers, Down and Out Bluegrass Band, Landsend and Molly Hicks. There will be picking sessions every day throughout the village. More at www.discoverdunmore.com

Ukulele Hooley

Head to Dún Laoghaire this weekend for this quirky music festival by the sea. The packed lineup includes ukulele events for everyone, from beginners to masters. The ukulele open mic night is on at 7.30pm tomorrow.
