The popular white rodent with his side-kick hamster Penfold is set to be re-introduced to a new generation of fans on CBBC in 2015.

The eccentric secret agent was originally voiced by British actor David Jason, known from crime drama A Touch of Frost and Only Fools and Horses.

Danger Mouse, which ran from 1981-92, will still sport his distinguishing eye patch althoug it will updated to a “i-patch” with multiple technical functions.

Boulder Media based in Dublin and FremantleMedia are working with CBBC to kickstart the new adventures of the duo.

Rick Glankler, general manager FremantleMedia, said the rebooted version wouldl be brought up-to-date for tech -savvy and content-hungry children of today.

“In this new 21st century version the laughs are set to be even louder as the world’s smallest secret agent faces mightier missions, voracious villains and knee-trembling threats,” he said.

Brian Cosgrove, co-creator of the original Danger Mouse series, said when he first created the show he had no idea of the success it would have.

“I am delighted that a whole new generation will be introduced to his daring deeds and thrilled to be part of this new 21st Century series. I can’t wait to find out what he’s been up to for the last 23 years,” he said.
