Heathers, Electric Arena, Saturday
If you were surprised that David Guetta was eager to get Ellie and Louise Macnamara, the Dublin twins that make up Heathers, to write a new tune for his next album, then their early afternoon performance should lower any raised eyebrows.
Tracks from their second album, Kingdom released next week embed themselves after just one listen.
Their songwriting is so fully formed and polished, the harmonies so perfectly interlocking, their presence so endearing, that when the ubiquitous Remember When arrives, it almost feels like a footnote to their ability to make something catchy.
Waiter, a song that’s been knocking around for a while shines, and the beefiness of Gather Up is a brilliantly advanced distance from the coy acoustic sounds of their past. But ultimately, it’s Forget Me Knots that blisters.
