Gardaí have called for witnesses after a road crash killed a young Polish motorcyclist at the weekend.

Bartosz Borowiec, who was 26 and lived in Ashbourne, Co Meath, died instantly when his motorbike crashed into a car on the M2 motorway on Friday.

The crash happened at 7.30pm between the exit for St Margaret’s and the Ashbourne/Ratoath exit.

No one else was injured in the crash.

The motorway was closed for a time in both directions while Garda investigators carried out a forensic examination to try to establish the circumstances leading to the crash.

A Garda spokesman said gardaí would like to speak to anyone who was on the M2 motorway at the time of the crash or shortly before it.
