Gardaí discovered what was described as a sophisticated cannabis-growing operation in Co Meath earlier today.

In an operation targeting organised crime in north Dublin and Meath, gardaí from the Criminal Assets Bureau and Navan searched a house at Grennan, Drumconrath, earlier today.

The cannabis-cultivation operation and more than 400 cannabis plants were seized.

A man and women, both aged in their 40s, were arrested and taken to Navan Garda station under under Section 2 of The Drug Trafficking Act.

According to gardaí, the seizure has a potential street value of €120,000.

Elsewhere, two people were arrested in connection with the discovery of a cannabis-growing operation in the attic of a house in Co Wicklow.

A man (23) and a woman (29) are being questioned over the seizure of cannabis plants and related paraphernalia.

They were arrested after members of the Bray drugs unit raided a house in Dargle Heights in the town at about 10.30pm last night.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered that the attic of the house had been converted to grow plants.

The two people are both being held under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act at Bray Garda station.
