Man arrested after blaze damages six houses in Millfield Manor, Kildare

Gardaí say 39-year-old in custody and all occupants have been accounted for

A man has been arrested in connection with a fire that badly damaged six houses in a Kildare estate.

The blaze broke out at about 5:40pm on Tuesday in the Millfield Manor housing estate and quickly spread across properties.

Nobody was hurt as a result but the homes were either gutted or badly damaged.

Gardaí have confirmed they arrested a 39-year-old man in relation to the incident.

He is being held at Newbridge Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A statement from gardaí said: “All occupants have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.”

A technical investigation team went to the scene which is closed to the public.
