Woman dies after four cars and a truck crash in Roscommon

Four people were taken to hospital with minor injuries

A woman has died after four cars and a truck collided in Co Roscommon yesterday. The crash happened at Cloonfree in Strokestown at 1.30pm.

The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 70s, was taken to Galway University Hospital where she later died.

A man in his mid-70s, who was a passenger in this car, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Galway University Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 40s, also sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital in Sligo.

A man in his mid-30s, the driver of one of the other cars, has been taken to hospital in Mullingar along with a passenger, a woman in her 30s. Both are reported to have suffered minor injuries.

Six people travelling in the other two cars were not injured.

The road has reopened following a forensic investigation.
