Two men face charges in relation to republican activity

Two men were due to be charged at the Special Criminal Court on Tuesday evening.

The men aged 27 and 35 appeared before a special sitting of the court at 9pm.

They were arrested on Sunday night shortly after 11pm in the Leitrim area as part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity in the area.

They were detained at Sligo Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended. They remain in Garda custody.
