Three charged over murder of restaurant owner in Antrim

Three men have been charged with the murder of a Chinese restaurant owner in Northern Ireland.

Nelson Cheung, 65, was killed last Thursday after robbers forced his car off the road in a remote area of Co Antrim.

It is believed his throat was cut as he was murdered in front of his wife Winnie, who suffered knife wounds in the attack.

Mr Cheung ran the Double Value Chinese restaurant in Randalstown, Co Antrim.

He had been travelling home from his business with his wife shortly after midnight on Thursday when he was stabbed after being intercepted by two vehicles on the rural Caddy Road.

A 33-year-old man, a 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old man have all been charged with murder, attempted murder, robbery and attempted robbery.

The 25-year-old man was additionally charged with burglary.

A 32-year-old woman has been charged with perverting the course of justice and handling stolen goods.

All four are expected to appear in court in Ballymena tomorrow morning.

Police have said they do not believe the killing was racially motivated.

A 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy also arrested by detectives investigating the crime have been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
