Revenue has seized some €48,000 in cash from a passenger boarding a plane at Cork airport .
The traveller was yesterday booked on a flight to Amsterdam when stopped by officers.
They searched the non-national’s carry-on luggage where they found the money. Officers seized the cash under Section 38 of the Criminal Justice Act 1994.
Officers were today granted a three month detention order for the cash by Judge Olan Kelleher at a sitting of Cork District Court. This will allow officers to carry out further investigations.
