Revenue dog sniffs out €24,500 in cash during Dundalk raid

Dog, named Bill, was involved in operation involving gardaí and Revenue officials

Revenue officers have seized €24,500 in cash as part of an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal importation, supply and sale of tobacco products.

Gardaí and Revenue officers searched two houses in the Dundalk area on Thursday morning, when the discovery was made.

Assisted by detector dog “Bill”, €24,500 in cash which is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in criminal activity was seized, Revenue said in a statement on Friday.

At a sitting of Drogheda District Court on Friday officers were granted a three-month detention order to facilitate further investigation.
