A man has been arrested in Tipperary in connection with the murder of Bobby Ryan, whose body was discovered in a disused storage pit on a farm over a year ago.

The remains were found lying in water in the pit in the townland of Fawnagown in Tipperary on April 30th 2013. Mr Ryan, a truck driver and popular DJ, had been last seen in that area on the morning of June 3rd, 2011. He was 52.

A postmortem later confirmed the remains to be his and he was buried by his family in his native Cashel in May of last year.

A Garda spokesman said the man was currently being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Tipperary town Garda station.

A 45-year-old woman who was arrested yesterday remains in custody.
