Man charged with firearm possession to appear in court

A man in his 20s who was charged in connection with an investigation into the recovery of a firearm and suspected explosives will appear before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on Saturday morning.

The man was arrested after gardaí recovered a pistol and suspected component parts for explosives in car at Glenfarne in Co Leitrim. He will appear before a sitting of the Special Criminal Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin at 11am on Saturday.

A second man who was arrested and detained in connection with the seizure has been released from Garda custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
