Man released without charge following Ballyfermot shooting

A 40 year-old man has been released from custody following the shooting of a motorist

A man who was arrested on Saturday night in relation to a shooting in Ballyfermot has been released from Garda custody.

The 40 year-old male was arrested on Saturday following an incident in which a man in his late 30s was shot in the leg while driving a moped in the Cleggan Road area at 8.40pm. The victim was subsequently taken to St James' Hospital, and his injuries are not life-threatening.

Gardaí detained an individual shortly after under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, and he has since been released from Ballyfermot Garda Station without charge. A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
