Man and three women arrested in Cork over money laundering

Up to 20 officers led by local detectives involved in early morning raids in Cork

Gardaí investigating the activities of a drug dealing gang in Cork have arrested a man and three women for questioning about money laundering the proceeds of crime.

Detectives arrested the man and two women when they raided a house in the Kerryhall Road of Farranree and arrested a third woman at a house on Blarney Road shortly after 8am this morning.

All four were arrested and detained under anti-drug trafficking legislation for questioning about suspected money laundering and they can be held for up to seven days under the legislation.

The man, who is in his 30s and one of the women who is in her 20s, are being held at Gurranebraher Garda Station while another woman in her 20s is being held at Mayfield Garda Station.

The third woman who is in her 50s is being held at the Bridewell Garda Station and the arrests are part of an extensive garda investigation into the activities of a Cork city drug dealing gang.

Up to 20 officers led by local detectives but assisted by members of the Criminal Assets Bureau were involved in the early morning raids on the two houses in Cork this morning.

Earlier this year, gardaí arrested another woman as part of the same investigation and recovered €36,000 which they believe to be the proceeds of crime when they raided a house on Kerryhall Road.
