Man (60) held over stabbing in New Ross house

Victim (34) was seriously injured in Wexford incident last night and he is stable in hospital

Gardaí have arrested a 60-year-old man in relation to a stabbing at a house in New Ross, Co Wexford last night.

The 34-year-old was seriously injured in the incident at about 9.30pm and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable, a Garda spokesman said.

The 60-year-old was arrested shortly after the incident and is being held at New Ross Garda station. He can be held for up to 24 hours under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene at Grange Road is being preserved for technical examination.
