Man (44) charged in connection to armed robbery

Gardaí search for a second man after a shop worker was assaulted and threatened with gun

A 44-year-old man has been charged on Sunday in connection with an armed robbery in Dublin.

The gardaí are still searching for a second man in relation to the incident.

Two men, one armed with a gun, entered a store shortly before 7am in Neilstown in Dublin 22 on Saturday

The men then assaulted a male staff member in the shop, stole cigarettes and alcohol, and ran away.

Gardaí arrested one man near the scene and he is in custody at Ronanstown Garda Station.

He has been charged and is due to appear in Blanchardstown District Court on Monday.

During a search by officers a firearm, a baton, cigarettes and alcohol were found.

Gardaí are currently searching for a second man.

The staff member assaulted was taken to Tallaght hospital with minor injuries.

The scene was preserved and technically examined by investigators.
