Four hospitalised after Co Meath car rally crash

Injured include competitors and spectators after car spun off road and into field

Two competitors and two spectators at a car rally have been taken to hospital after one of the vehicles in the event went out of control and spun into a field.

The collision occurred at the ALMC Stages Rally along a section of the route near Athboy, Co Meath.

The driver and co-driver of the car were injured along with two other men believed to have been watching the event at the location where the vehicle left the road.

One of the men has been air-lifted to Beaumont Hospital, north Dublin.

The other three men have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth.
