Drugs worth €570,000 seized in Dublin

Gardaí recover currency worth €300,000 in separate search

Gardaí in Dublin have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of €570,000.

A Garda spokesman said the seizure was made as part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the south inner city area.

Gardaí from the Kevin Street drug unit assisted by local uniformed officers conducted a planned search of a house in the Sundrive Road area yesterday evening.

The drugs and items associated with the supply of drugs were also recovered.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing, the spokesman said.

Separately, euro and sterling currency worth up to €300,000 was recovered at a house in the Kinsealy area of north Dublin yesterday.

A number of searches were carried out by members of the Garda National Drugs Unit. A small quantity of cocaine and ecstasy were also seized, gardaí said.

A 55-year-old man was arrested and is currently detained at Coolock Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 –Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
