Dolores O’Riordan released into mother’s custody after arrest

Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan has been released from Garda custody after she was arrested in connection with an alleged air rage incident earlier today.

The musician who was later taken to hospital for medical assessment has been released into the custody of her mother.

The Cranberries star and former Voice of Ireland mentor was arrested at the airport shortly before 5am today after an incident on board and Aer Lingus flight from New York.

Flight E1-110 from JFK was 10 minutes away from landing at Shannon when the 43-year-old singer became disruptive and refused to take her seat.

It is alleged she stamped on an air hostess’s foot during the incident.

An ambulance was called for the air hostess who is being treated at University Hospital Limerick for a suspected fractured foot.

Ms O’Riordan was taken to Shannon Garda station for questioning, but after being seen by a GP she was brought by gardaí to University Hospital Limerick for medical assessment.

She was released from Garda custody at around 3.35pm today into the custody of her mother.

A file is being prepared for the DPP on the incident.

A spokesman for Shannon airport confirmed there was an incident on board today’s EI-110 New York-Shannon service upon its arrival at 4.47am and said the matter was being handled by gardaí.
