Disabled man attacked in bed overnight in Co Down burglary

A disabled elderly man was attacked in his bed overnight during a burglary in Co Down.

The PSNI said the pensioner was assaulted with a “sharp implement” when three men broke into his home in Clogharevan Park, Newry, during the early hours of the morning.

Det Insp Harry Colgan said: "He received several wounds to his body as a result of this assault.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.”

An undisclosed sum of cash is believed to have been stolen.
