A man in his late 20s who was detained following the seizure of cannabis plants worth an estimated €120,000 yesterday was scheduled to appear before Carlow District Court at 10.30am this morning charged in relation to the seizure.

The cannabis was seized after a 2.15am search of a house in the Fairways area of Carlow town.

Gardaí found cannabis plants as well as equipment used in the cultivation of the drug when they searched the property.

The man was arrested at the scene under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, and was detained at Carlow Garda station.
