Cocaine worth €1.75m seized at Port of Cork

25kg of drug found as containers taken off vessel that arrived from Central America

Cocaine worth an estimated €1.75 million has been seized in Cork.

Some 25kg of the drug was discovered last Friday when customs officers examined containers that were being unloaded at Port of Cork.

The cocaine had been transported in a vessel that arrived at the port from Central America, a Revenue spokeswoman said.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, she added.
