A report in Wednesday’s paper on security firm G4S and the Olympic security operation (London Briefing, Business 2) referred to 18,000 troops brought in to assist “as a result” of the company’s failure to hire sufficient staff.

This number includes a previously agreed commitment of 13,500 troops – only an extra 4,700 were needed as a result of the G4S failure.
