Cannabis plants seized in Roscommon

A man in his 30s has been arrested following the discovery of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €300,000 in Co Roscommon.

Local detectives and gardaí from the Roscommon Divisional Drug Unit searched a shed at Athleague at 3.30pm yesterday, uncovering an elaborate cannabis growing operation.

Some 380 plants were seized during the search.

The man is being detained at Roscommon Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A Garda spokesman said investigations were continuing.
