Officers from Revenue's Customs Service today stopped and searched a man at Dublin Airport and seized €99,900.

The man (55), from Slovakia, was stopped as he was about to board a flight to Vienna this morning. The cash was found in his clothing.

In Dublin Circuit Court this afternoon, officers were granted a three-month detention order, in respect of the cash, by a judge to carry out further investigations.

Today's cash seizure is the sixth made by Customs at Dublin Airport over the past ten days. The other five seizures totalled €92,870, and in all five cases detention orders were granted by the courts.
