Our Wedding Story: A stress-free outdoor ceremony

Ciara O’Grady & Douglas Cady met in Scotland but married in Dublin

Ciara (29) was born in Dublin but moved to London as a child with her family. Aged 18, through friends, she met Douglas, from Scotland, who also grew up in the city.

Ciara moved back to Dublin a year later and Douglas followed shortly afterwards. In 2013, they were on holiday in New York when he proposed in the snow.

The couple planned their wedding for a year later – on their 10th anniversary – only to make the happy discovery with seven months to go that Ciara was pregnant. The wedding was postponed and daughter Esmé was born on June 24th, 2014.

On July 17th, 2015, Ciara and Douglas married in an outdoor, spiritual ceremony in Beaufield Mews, Stillorgan, Co Dublin.

After a barbecue dinner, the newlyweds had their first dance to a cover version of Beyond the Sea by Will Young. "We honestly have the best family and friends . . . it was the most stress-free day we've ever had," says Ciara.

“Our photographer Michelle was my manager from work: she very kindly did our photography as a gift. And she ended up doing the hair for most of the bridesmaids.” “Life is great,” say the couple, who will soon welcome their second daughter.
