VW confirms SV is new name for next generation Golf Plus

New Golf SV on sale in Ireland in July

Volkswagen Ireland has confirmed its Golf Plus successor is to be called the Golf SV. The new model, which will get its first public outing at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

The new car features a more generous interior than the Golf Plus it replaces, along with rear bench seats that offer up to 180mm adjustment and a cargo capacity of over 1,500 litres. despite the extra space it will remain a five-seater rather than a fully-fledged people carrier.

The Golf SV will feature a similar engine line-up to the standard Golf range, with the bulk of sales expected to come from the 1.6-litre 110bhp diesel engine, which will be EU6 compliant. Prices will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
