The art of summer in west Cork

Liam O’Neill’s painting ‘Turning for Home’ the top lot in online auction

Viewing is under way this weekend for a summer art auction being staged to appeal to August bank holiday weekend holidaymakers in west Cork.

At Morgan O’Driscoll’s saleroom in Skibbereen, Co Cork, viewing is from noon today until Tuesday at 5pm for an “Irish Art Online Auction”.

While the paintings and sculpture can be seen in the saleroom, bidding is via the internet only at morganodriscoll.com.

The top lot, which might appeal to a punter who has just made a killing at the Galway Races, is a racing scene, Lot 15, entitled Turning for Home by Liam O'Neill, an oil-on-canvas measuring 30 by 40 inches, estimated at €10,000-€15,000.
