Wednesday, July 3rd Sotheby’s, London. Sale of Old Master paintings. Saint Dominic in Prayer by El Greco, £9.1million (£3m-£5m) a record for a painting by a Spanish artist; Christ on the Cross, also by El Greco, £3.4million (£3m-£5m).


Tuesday, July 2nd Christie’s, London. The Molo, Venice, by Canaletto, £8.4 million (£4m-£6m).
