Monday and Tuesday (August 7th and 8th) Dolan’s Art & Antiques Auction, Ballyconneely, Connemara, Co Galway. Overall percentage: 83 per cent. Lot 94, Child in Interior, oil–on–canvas, by John Shinnors €21,500 (€12,000-€15,000); Lot 159, Fir ón Oiléan, charcoal drawing, by Sean Keating €17,000 (€14,000-€18,000); Lot 160, Josephine Bruce Roses, oil–on–canvas, by Patrik Hennessy €10,000 (€9,000-€10,000); Lot 125, Mayo Shed, oil–on–canvas, by Martin Gale €1,800 (€1,800-€2,400); Lot 58, a large cast-metal model of a steam locomotive €900 (€1,000-€1,500); Lot 123, Mannin Bay, Ballyconneely, watercolour, by Robert Egginton €650 (€700-€900).

Lot 6, a Victorian box of cubed jigsaw blocks inscribed “To William Swaine Marsh, from his Papa, on his fourth Birthday, 7th September 1861” €200 (€180–250); Lot 14, a late Victorian chemist’s brass and wood pill-maker made by Mawson & Thompson, London, circa 1900, €160 (€160–€180); Lot 66D, a Victorian cast-iron foot-scraper set in a sandstone block, €160 (€160-€180); Lot 43, a Victorian silver pedestal christening mug, engraved with panels of roses, made in London 1874, €140 (€180–€280). Among the unsold was Lot 106, Connemara Bogpools, oil-on-canvas, by Patrick Hennessy (€6,000-€8,000).

Tuesday (August 8th) Morgan O’Driscoll Auctioneers, Skibbereen, Co Cork. Online art auction. Some 91 per cent of lots sold. Lot 82, Famine Pier, unique bronze, copper and steel sculpture by John Behan €7,500 (€3,000-€5,000); Lot 4, Study for a Portrait of Graham Norton, chalk–on–canvas, by Gareth Reid €3,000 (€1,500-€2,500); Lot 3, The Grey Van, oil-on-board, by Basil Blackshaw €2,000 (€2,000-€4,000); and Lot 13, Lady Diana Spencer, photographed with children at London Kindergarten, September 1980, a silver gelatin print, No 7 from an edition of 25 by the Irish photographer John Minihan €1,000 (€1,000-€1,500) .
