Auction results

Monday (January 23rd) Morgan O’Driscoll Auctioneers, “Irish Art Online Auction”. Ninety per cent of lots sold. Lot 15, Threshing by Patrick Leonard, sold for €6,500 (it had an estimated price of €3,000-€5,000); Lot 8, Belfast Shipyard Worker, wax crayon on paper, by William Conor signed and dated, April 15th, 1912 (the day Titanic sank) €1,200 (€1,500-€2,500).

Tuesday (January 24th) John Weldon Auctioneers, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar Dublin 8. A military OBE (Order of the British empire) medal awarded to Captain JW O’Kelly of Kinnegad, Co Westmeath, (a British army officer during the War of Independence in 1921) along with two first World War medals sold for €850 (€500-€1,500); a pair of 18ct gold Patek Philippe cufflinks €900 (€800-€1,200); a string of black pearls €1,050 (€1,000-€2,000).

Wednesday (January 25th) O’Reilly’s Auction Rooms, Francis Street, Dublin 8. Lot 68, an antique ruby and diamond ring sold for €3,200 (€3,000-€4,000); Lot 237; a 14ct gold brooch in the form of a rabbit with diamond ears, ruby eyes and holding a carrot made of coral sold for €2,900 (€2,800-€3,500); Lot 59; A Ladies’ Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Wristwatch in steel and gold with original box and papers sold for €2,300 (€1,800-€2,000).

Sunday (January 29th) Adam’s, 26 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2. The January Sale – described as “largely an unreserved sale with a wide variety of collectables, affordable furniture and antiques and paintings” at 12pm .

Monday (January 30th) Milltown Country Auction Rooms, Milltown, Dromiskin, Dundalk, Co Louth. Antiques auction at 5pm.

Tuesday (January 31st) Adams Blackrock Auctioneers, 38 Main Street, Blackrock, Co Dublin. Fine Art & Interiors auction at 11am. Lot 149, a Waterford crystal 18-arm chandelier is estimated at €4,000-€6,000; Lot 151, a Bechstein boudoir grand piano (€2,000-€3,000); Lot 278, a lady’s full-length mink coat, “provenance Macy’s, New York” (€1,000-€1,500).

Tuesday (January 31st) Oliver Usher’s Auction Rooms, John Street, Kells, Co Meath. Antiques auction at 5pm. A Murano glass sculpture, Head with Fruit - a Homage to Picasso, by Walter Furlan (€3,000-€4,000); an Irish Free State army officer’s sword (€1,500-€2,000).

Saturday (February 4th) Woodward’s Auctioneers, 26 Cook St, Cork. Antiques auction at 11am including William IV, Georgian and Victorian furniture; Imari, Doulton and Dresden porcelain, Waterford glass, and silver. Viewing under way. For online bidding and further details see woodward.ie.
