Tuesday, October 1st Mealy’s Fine Art Auctioneers, house contents at Woodview House, Ballingale, Ferns, Co Wexford. Seventy per cent of 600 lots sold. An Irish 18th-century longcase clock by John Crosthwaite, Dublin €7,500 (€7,000-€9,000); a 14-bore double-barrel sidelock percussion sporting gun by James Purdy, London €2,900 (€3,000-€4,000).

Tuesday, October 8th John Weldon Auctioneers, Cow’s Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin 8. Auction of jewellery, silver and gold at 2pm. A collection of 14 gold 50-pesos coins (each coin weighs 41 grams) estimate, €1,200-€1,500 per coin; an 1877 US $20 gold coin €1,200-€1,500.
