Health tip of the day: Drag a friend along to exercise with you

A fitness pal will help you keep up your routine

Whether you want to work out first thing in the morning or after work, you’ll find a way to avoid it as motivation dips. It’s when you can’t psyche yourself to do it that a fitness pal comes in handy. Whether they’re holding you accountable or gently encouraging you, you’re much more likely to keep up your routine with a friend by your side.

It’s something fitness instagrammer and personal trainer Nathalie Lennon sees working all the time: “Since I’ve started teaching my classes, I’ve seen that if you have one person who’s like, ‘I’m going to this class, come with me’, it works. Having a friend to do it with you has a huge impact,” she says.

If you can’t find a friend who’s interested, it may be worth looking up local running or walking groups to see if you can find a like-minded person to join you.
