Get Swimming Week Seven
Welcome to Week 7 of Get Swimming, a 12-week programme brought to you by The Irish Times, in association with Swim Ireland. Congratulations on getting this far in our programme. We hope you’re on course to be able to swim a mile by May.
This week, we are working on extending the distance you can swim comfortably from 1,200m to 1,300m or approximatley 66 lenghts of a 17-20 meter pool. (52 lengths of a 25 meter pool and 26 lengths of a 50 meter pool)
This week’s programme focuses on: front and back crawl techniques, breathing and tumbling. Your swimming coach, former Olympian Melanie Nocher offers tips on these and techniques backstroke, surface dives and mushroom float in our instruction. If you are taking part, you need to be able to commit to three training sessions a week. Remember, you can register for Swim Ireland's Swim for a Mile challenge at swimforamile.com.
