Wear it out: Colour and plenty of it all through the summer

This week we had a chat with the wonderful Sally Foran, who is better known as the DJ Sally Cinnamon. Always the most colourful in the room, Sally is never shy with her style choices. Bold and beautiful is the name of the game and it takes an expert eye to mix patterns and textures like she does and make it look effortless.

Whether in a field at one of the many summer festivals or hanging out in the city this summer, her look works every time. Tell us about your outfit? So the waterfall canvas coat is from Asos it was €96 and I loved the hood and how it drapes.

The fuchsia pink smock dress is from H&M (€20) and it acts as the perfect canvas for jewellery, buzzy tights or a cape.

The teal tights are from Wolford (€14). I love this colour green/blue it goes with everything and my boots are also from Asos (€65). I like the tacky snakeskin cowboy/flame appliqué on the front and sides.

The scarf is from Etsy (€45) and obviously it’s got colours/pompoms and fringing so it’s an all round Sally winner.

The geometric and pompom necklace is from Emmylou Jewellery (€50). My bangles and earrings I’ve acquired from all over the shop throughout the years. How would you describe your personal style? Most people who know me might say colour is my thing and plenty of it. Pom poms, fringing and neon, gimme it!

What are you most looking forward to about this summer? Summer is everyone’s time to shine I think. Bare legs and open toes after months of tights and boots is a brilliant feeling. The brighter colours make me very happy and wearing things that you only get to wear a couple of times a year in a two-month period is totally novel and makes it buzzier I think.

In terms of events, Drop Everything on Inis Oírr – laughing, dancing, swimming, singing in that order.

Body & Soul on the summer solstice is always the summer highlight and never disappoints. Can’t wait for the delicious food and pints at West Cork Literary Festival and Galway Arts Festival too. I’m always on the go in Ireland each summer, which is great, and I long for it when the months are long and dark.
