Patek Philippe at Weirs

New stock for splashing some cash

For that small minority looking to invest in something other than a house, Dublin’s Weir & Sons has received new stock of Patek Philippe watches to celebrate the watchmaker’s 175th anniversary. Among the selection is the €49,750-priced Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph, a watch containing 370 parts, 34 jewels, and a 21-carat gold rotor. On sale for an eye-watering €49,000, meanwhile, is this Diamond Ribbon Moonphase Ladies Complicated Watch (pictured) which contains 273 graduated, 2.12-carat diamonds that spiral around the watch face. The “complication” refers to any function beyond telling the time such as the chronograph or stopwatch function.

The men's Annual Calendar Chronograph, a self-winding wristwatch, containing 456 parts, 40 jewels, 14 "bridges" or plates and vibrating at 4Hz per hour, can be had for €45,950. See weirandsons.ie
