Five great places to shop in Paris
Deirdre McQuillan chooses five of her favourite Paris shopping destinations
LE BON MARCHE
The finest department store in Paris with top international luxury brands, local and some lesser-known French labels, tempting accessories and more. Its La Grand Epicerie (food hall) is simply spectacular as is its super-stylish cafe.
24 rue de Sevres . Metro: Sevres Babylone, lines 10 & 12
A fashion and lifestyle emporium in a former 19th century wallpaper factory which sells everything from clothing (some vintage), accessories, fragrance, home and kitchen wares to books and garden items. It also has a florist and a lovely cafe.
111 boulevard Beaumarchais in the Marais . Metro: Saint-Sebastien Froissart, line 8
For those who love luxurious lingerie, this beautiful boudoir with its seductive mirrored window displays is a one-stop shop for exquisite silk and lace creations that are playful, sexy but also have great fit. Rather expensive.
211 Rue Saint Honore . Metro: Tuileries line 1
WK DEPOT VENTE
A tiny vintage shop and a treasure trove of barely-used top designer and couture labels – mostly French – and some of very recent origin. Find Chanel and Hermes bags, Louboutin shoes, YSL and Dior jackets, Lanvin dresses and jewellery all at a fraction of their original prices.
5 rue Marche Saint Honore . Metro: Tuileries line 1
This little boutique in the heart of the Marais is actually one of a chain in Paris that sells necklaces, earrings, bracelets and brooches all handmade in Jeanne’s Paris atelier that are stylish, original and inexpensive. It’s best known for its dove motif jewellery.
12 rue des Francs Bourgeois Metro : Saint Paul, line 1
