Aisling’s picks: We’ve got a Dermalogica SPF50, new Mac moisturiser and Clinique wedding lipsticks

A new dry shampoo from Tresemme and another advance from the No7 Protect and Perfect range will get you all set for the summer.

Origins Smarty Plants CC SPF20 (€32.50)

Ideal for warmer weather when makeup tends to start sliding off if you have oily skin. The coverage is light so you will need to use concealer with it if you have blemishes to cover up. This CC cream makes me wish I had oily skin because it smells so fresh and is full of plant extracts that provide good antioxidant benefits.

Dermalogica Pure Light SPF50 (€69.99)

Two things might put you off this product; the hefty price tag and the faintly antiseptic scent (it’s the eucalyptus in the formula). I happen to love the smell so I found this to be a bonus and Pure Light is a good, lightweight, hydrating lotion with lots of moisture attracting ingredients and a whopping factor 50 broad spectrum sun protection which will go a long way towards protecting against age spots and lines.

Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo (€6.50)

Show me a dry shampoo and I’ll present you with an empty can as soon as you can say “get another day out of that blowdry”. This is not heavy or sticky unlike some of the rock hard volumising offerings out there and is ideal for giving your hair a light refresh.

Clinique Kiss The Bride (€20)

We’re slap bang in the middle of wedding season and while this trio of lipsticks are obviously targeted at the lady of the day (or three day extravaganza if we’re talking Irish weddings) it turns out that they will work pretty well on the rest of us too. With a long wearing creamy formula these shades will flatter the singletons amongst us just as much as the smug marrieds.

No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Night Cream (€33.50)

Oh how I love a good night cream and this one is ideal for dry and mature skin, I found it sank in quickly and didn’t sit ‘greasily’ on the surface of my skin as many shea butter containing moisturisers can do. Containing hyaluronic acid and other moisture attracting ingredients as well as the collagen stimulator Matrixyl 3000, you won’t go far wrong if you invest in this.

Mac MINERALIZE TIMECHECK Lotion (€42)

With line blurring ingredients that will also reduce the look of pores and even out skin this is a lightweight moisturiser from the Mac Charged Water Collection. Even witht the addition of mango and shea butters this is not heavy or greasy and provides lots of antioxidant benifits. A great base for makeup.
