As a research-intensive ‘University of Enterprise’, DCU tackles the global challenges of our time in its research agenda and fosters innovative graduates who can make a major impact on society. Today, DCU delivers more than 120 degree programmes to over 12,000 students across its four faculties – Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Health, Engineering and Computing, and DCU Business School. It will soon add a fifth faculty, an Institute of Education, that will transform education in Ireland over the coming decades. DCU’s excellence is recognised internationally and it has been ranked among the top 50 young universities worldwide (QS ‘Top 50 under 50’) for each of the past three years. The DCU Educational Trust is a registered charity that was established in 1988 to advance the development of the university and to support its ambitious plans. The Trust works to build philanthropic relationships with friends, alumni, corporations, foundations and community groups to leverage the power of higher education in changing lives.

The role:

The Trustees of the DCU Educational Trust seek to recruit an experienced CEO, who will be an inspirational leader, committed to advancing the Trust’s ambitions. The CEO will be responsible for developing and executing the Trust’s strategy and overall funding and development objectives, which s/he will do in close consultation with the Board of Trustees and the President of DCU. The Trust wishes to draw candidates from a diverse set of backgrounds who possess a collaborative and open leadership style.

The new CEO will possess the ability to:

• Develop and manage relationships at the highest levels;
• Lead the Trust strategically in advancing its mission;
• Manage a high-performance team;
• Deliver on targets involving engagement with diverse communities of stakeholders.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have an understanding of tier-one, Institutionally Related Foundations (IRFs). We are also seeking experienced business leaders with experience of philanthropy and the not-for-profit sector in Ireland. This visionary leader for the DCU Educational Trust will possess high levels of personal and professional resilience, drive, ambition, honesty and integrity.
