Most recently in the news: A high profile figure since his election to Dail Eireann Jackie Healy-Rea left Fianna Fáil before the last election after failing to secure a nomination. He was a Fianna Fáil member of Kerry County Council from 1974 to 1997, and since then has been an independent.
Since his own election, Mr Healy-Rae has worked hard on local issues.
