Updated comment system introduced on The Irish Times website

You may have noticed a small change to how comments look this afternoon. This is a result of us moving to a new comment platform.

The new platform will be better able to serve the increasing number of people who comment on Irish Times articles. In order to highlight and feature comments as part of the heart of what we do in The Irish Times, it’s now possible for you to link directly to a specific comment.

As with the previous system, you'll need a Facebook, Linkedin or Twitter account to comment. Email registration is being considered as part of our future development.
