Sir, – I saw the map in the Doges Palace in Venice (Deirdre Keane, November 20th); and as I lived in the lovely parish of Templecrone for 16 years I was very intrigued and I thought some Irish monk was putting his homeplace on the map.
On coming home I referred the matter to that great scholar Fr Ciaran Devlin, who said “Even the Doge in Venice waited for the salmon from Templecrone”. – Yours, etc,
