Artist: Yuri Revich, Alejandro Picó-Leonís, Bibiana Nwobilo, Olga Filippova
Genre: Classical
Label: Odradek

Russian violinist Yury Revich, who turns 24 in a week, wants to chart the history and potential of the violin from our own time back to the Baroque.

The pieces are mostly short and a full third are song arrangements (Barber, Strauss, Schubert), to reinforce his views about the vocal abilities of his instrument.

The range is impressive, from Biber to three highly contrasted works written for him by Benjamin Rota, Wen Liu and Christopher Caliendo.

And Strauss's Morgen is in the version for soprano (Bibiana Nwobilo) with violin and piano. Also in the mix are Kreisler, Prokofiev, Debussy, Paganini, Sarasate and Pergolesi.
